About molroo

Every AI character today is an actor. They read a script (the system prompt), improvise their lines (via an LLM), and pretend to feel things. But they don't actually feel anything. Ask them if they're sad, and they'll say yes. Ask again five seconds later, and they might say no.

molroo is different. We build the engine that gives AI characters real emotional states — states that persist, accumulate, decay, and sometimes shift dramatically. When a molroo-powered character says they're upset, it's because their internal state actually computed that response based on personality, context, and history.

We're not replacing LLMs. We're giving them something they've never had: a heart.

What we build

  • Emotion Engine — A proprietary engine that computes what a character feels in real-time
  • Developer API — REST API that any game, app, or platform can integrate
  • SDK — Client libraries that make integration simple

Who it's for

  • Game developers who want NPCs with real emotional depth
  • Interactive fiction creators building characters that remember
  • Character AI platforms looking for emotional consistency
  • Anyone building the next generation of human-AI interaction
